AGAPE Social Services

Our team of social workers and other professionals work together to provide quality care for children and families.

Our Services

Any number of circumstances may cause a pregnancy to be a crisis rather than a blessing or joyful event. AGAPE's social workers will help you identify your needs and prepare for your future and your baby's future.

AGAPE provides foster care for children from birth through 17 years old. Foster families make a difference in helping children to feel loved, cared for, important and capable, even if it is only for a short time. When God works through you as a foster parent, you can do more than you think possible.

With the belief and conviction that every child deserves a family, AGAPE is here to help find that home for newborn infants as well as older children who become adoptable. A “forever family” is AGAPE’s goal for each of them. While some of the children are adopted at birth, others are adopted at a later age. Some of our children in foster care are eventually adopted because they are unable to return to their birth family. The end result of adoption is these children find the love and support that comes through a family.

"God sets the lonely in families..." - Ps. 68:6

Foster Care at AGAPE

Strengthening Children and Families

AGAPE cares for more than 100 children each year through our foster care program. As a private, nonprofit agency licensed to place children, our trauma-informed program ensures that children receive stability and love while separated from biological family. The goal of foster care is reunification with family. When that is not possible, our team looks to find the solution that is in the child's best interest.

Adoption

Infant Adoption

When a birth mother chooses to place an infant for adoption, AGAPE is ready to make matches with waiting families. AGAPE offers training for parents who cannot have biological children to prepare them for the adoption path. Infant adoption training is made available in an intimate group setting.

Independent Adoption

AGAPE is authorized through its Child Placing License to provide adoptive home studies and post-placement supervision for adoptions. Tennessee State Law requires that anyone who adopts a child must have an approved adoptive home study.

Adoption Through Foster Care

While the goal of foster care is reunification, sometimes that is not possible. If a child in DCS custody becomes available for adoption, the foster family caring for the child becomes the first option for adoptive placement.

Post-Adoption Support Group

This group is currently paused. Please complete the sign-up form to receive updates when meetings resume. AGAPE facilitates a free post-adoption support group for individuals and couples who have adopted at any point in the past. This is an opportunity for families to process and work through the unique joys and challenges of bringing a child into their home as their own. Through the group, families are equipped with resources and supports to help them through difficult seasons and to prepare them for potential future challenges. It is a place for families to encourage and pour into each other with the unique knowledge that comes from adoption.

The group meets on the second and fourth Tuesday each month from 6:00pm to 7:30pm. The group is facilitated by AGAPE Counseling clinicians with childcare provided by AGAPE’s Social Services staff members and approved volunteers. The group currently meets at AGAPE's office located at 4555 Trousdale Drive, Nashville, TN 37204.
