Counselor
Susan Allen holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lipscomb University. She joined AGAPE as an intern in 2022, and currently works as a contract therapist in pursuit of licensure as an LPC-MHSP in Tennessee. She has prior professional experience in public health, crisis, and clinical care settings. She extends the opportunity to sit across from a variety of clients to hear their stories and walk alongside them in their journey to mental health freedom. Susan has a desire to meet each person at their point of need to assist in their therapeutic journey. She values safe and confidential spaces allowing clients to share and process thoughts, feelings, and emotions. Major emphases in her work include anxiety, depression, grief/loss, couples, and adolescent issues. She uses a mixture of evidence-based, therapeutic methods such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), alongside Narrative Therapy because believing deeply in the power of story. Susan sees the beauty of all people, backgrounds, and cultures and understands that as diverse human beings, we can all learn from one another. Additionally, Susan is a certified Prepare Enrich facilitator.
