Ashley McQuirk, MS LPC-MHSP (temp)

Counselor

Ashley has a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lipscomb University with a specialization in play therapy. She previously worked as a public school teacher in Mississippi and has a Bachelor's and a Master's in English Education from Mississippi State University. As a teacher and volleyball coach, she helped, supported, and guided her students, and, eventually, she wanted to make a difference on a more individual level. She is currently working towards licensure under the supervision of Dr. Kasie Lee (LPC-MHSP, RPT-S) and Dr. Frank Scott (LPC-MHSP). 

Ashley believes that everyone can heal in a caring, compassionate, and professional environment. She balances compassion and empathetic understanding to support her clients in their healing journey. Ashley often uses a client-centered approach to explore counseling in practicing humanistic and cognitive behavioral therapies. Her passion is working with adolescents using expressive arts and utilizing Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) with children (ages 3-10). She has experience working with adults, adolescents, and children with a variety of presenting concerns including anxiety, depression, abuse, perfectionism, and trauma. She is trained in Child-Centered Play Therapy, Focusing techniques, and using expressive arts techniques. Ashley is working towards her Registered Play Therapist (RPT) certification with the Association for Play Therapy under the supervision of Dr. Kasie Lee.
